Celestial Abyss Hikaru vs. RuRu: Which Large Figure Fits Your Collection?

Quick answer

Choose Hikaru Blue Lightning if you want a larger 6.5" statement piece with UV reactive effects; pick RuRu Pink Orchid for a slightly smaller 5" figure with turquoise iridescence at a lower price.

Size and presence on your shelf

The most obvious difference between these two Celestial Abyss figures is their scale. Hikaru stands 6.5 inches tall, making it a dominant presence that anchors a display. RuRu is 5 inches, still substantial but easier to fit into tighter shelf arrangements or alongside smaller pieces. Neither is a small figure, so consider your available vertical space and the visual weight you want.

Both are one-of-a-kind hand-painted pieces, so the specific paint application and color distribution will vary. The size difference also affects the level of detail visible from a distance — Hikaru's larger form can show off more nuanced paint gradients.

Color and finish: Blue Lightning vs. Pink Orchid

Hikaru Blue Lightning features blue/purple iridescence with fluorescent UV reactive blues, meaning it glows under blacklight. RuRu Pink Orchid offers turquoise iridescence but does not mention UV reactivity. If you display your collection under UV lighting or want a piece that transforms in different light conditions, Hikaru has the edge. RuRu's pink orchid palette is more subtle and relies on natural light for its iridescent shift.

Both use acrylic and special effects paints, but the specific color stories are distinct. Hikaru leans cool and electric; RuRu is warmer with a pink base. Your existing collection's color scheme should guide this choice.

Price and value

Hikaru Blue Lightning is priced at USD 383.40 (compared to USD 540.00), while RuRu Pink Orchid is USD 332.50 (compared to USD 475.00). The price difference reflects the larger size and the UV reactive paint treatment. Both are significant investments for a single designer toy, but you are paying for a unique, hand-painted art piece that will not be reproduced.

Note that gallery items ship 28 days after show opening, so factor in that lead time regardless of which you choose.
